Introduction to Knowledge Management

Recently we held a knowledge management workshop that was so well received that we are now establishing a network of knowledge management practitioners. Therefore DNV Academy - CIBIT is facilitating a one-day workshop 'Introduction to Knowledge management' in Dublin in association with the Institute for Public Administration on February 20, 2007.

Institute for Public Administration

The Institute for Public Administration is the Irish national centre for development of best practice in public administration and public management. Their training and education programmes are tailored to the needs of public servants.

Knowledge Management

Common sense says that learning from successes and failures, sharing knowledge and the smart application of lessons learned from the past will lead to better results. Excellent organisations know this by heart and apply this common sense every day.

Putting support measures in place that address those issues is essential. Ignoring those measures has a high price however. Competing rather than collaborating departments, culture differences, daily work pressure, lack of communication tools and places to meet or stubbornness can get in the way.

Focus

The workshop focused on the fundamental issue of making the business case for knowledge management within one’s own organisation. Participants were led through a series of worksheets beginning with planning a knowledge management strategy. The exchange of thoughts and ideas throughout provided interesting debate and lively discussion.

Who should attend?

Anybody with responsibility for managing knowledge in public sector organisations should attend.
