Quest for Quality and Improved Performance

In a joint effort with Basket Builders, DNV-CIBIT helped to design and realise the website for QQUIP (Quest for Quality and Improved Performance), an initiative of The Health Foundation in London.

Healthcare knowledge made accessible via innovative visualisation technique
The QQUIP website contains a set of data and information on the quality and performance of healthcare, primarily focusing on the United Kingdom, but also including international comparisons. It is a resource for policy-makers, medical practitioners and all those interested in improving healthcare quality. The site includes over 450 data charts and items of text information describing the current disease trends, best practice and the cost-effectiveness of treatment.

You can search the site to find information on where healthcare resources are currently being spent, whether they provide value for money and how interventions in England and around the world have been used to improve healthcare quality.

Elegant way of communicating
All data (including graphs and excel sheets) are mapped onto a tree structure that includes disease conditions, healthcare quality indicators, best practices and value for money indicators. Moreover, some data are mapped onto a number of categories, resulting in a relational structure. We designed a mock up that demonstrated an elegant way of communicating the sometimes-complex relationships between categories and the data contained therein.

To be able to implement the mock up in an elegant way, we performed a toolscan and identified the Thinkmap technology fit for purpose. Using this technology, an intuitive and dynamic visualisation interface was realised. We are proud of the result and are convinced that Thinkmap offers a promising interface to communicate complex structures via the internet or an intranet.
